VOLUNTEERING AT TRING BOOK FESTIVAL
In the run-up to the festival in November, and for the duration, the Festival Staff would like help from a small army of volunteers. All volunteers need to have a desire to help people and exceed expectations through excellent customer care. We will need volunteers for weekday and weekend events, please state in your application form when you will be available. We aim to offer a first class experience to all our audience attendees and visiting guests, to enable us to do this we need the following volunteers:
Front of House Managers
Event Steward
Backstage/Tech
Car Parking Assistants
Drivers
Bar Staff / Serving Refreshments
Bookstall Retail / Sales
Qualifications for all Stewarding Roles
No previous experience is needed but we ask all volunteers to be flexible. As the festival evolves, the roles may change slightly. You will need to be:
- Over 16 (over 18 for car parking and bar staff and over 21 for drivers)
- Punctual and reliable
- Practical and hardworking
- Have a courteous, calm approach to the public
- Enjoy dealing with people
- Supportive of the Festival in its commitment to making events accessible and welcoming
- Smart and well-groomed, and wear a festival t shirt and black trousers/skirt
- Some Stewards need to be more active than others: pick the role which suits your needs.
- An interest in arts administration, events management and stage production would be advantageous but not essential
In return for volunteers hard work you will receive a free Tring Book Festival t-shirt to wear during the festival and to keep. And of course, the opportunity to get behind the scenes and also the chance to see great events for free! The work involved can be demanding, but the long days involve a lot of variety and hugely enjoyable teamwork along the way.
