Eviction: A Social History of Rent (Verso 2025).
Inspired by her own family's eviction fight, "Eviction" presents an alternative history of post-war British housing. In it, she challenges the myth that affordable, secure homes were ever intended for Britain's working class through tracing the neglected history of National Coal Board housing and exposing the grip private interests have held over housing since 1945. It's a story of tenant exploitation, cycles of eviction, and community destruction. She also spotlights the countless ways that tenants, especially women, have fought back.
