About the Book: Medal Man – Dad, Me and the Second World War
Mark Smith grew up listening to his father’s bedtime stories of flying special operations missions for the RAF’s WWII ‘flying boat crew’. But behind these edge-of-your-seat tales, his father was secretly haunted by the loss of his friend Harry during a covert operation over the Indian Ocean.
After decades spent poring over old log books, military archives, and service medals, Mark has pieced together his father’s full story.
Medal Man is a highly enthralling, personal tale of courage, compassion, and closure—exploring how the memories of wartime sacrifice continue to bind generations together.
